Faith Essay final draft due Oct. 21
This past Wednesday, 9th graders worked through their first draft of their faith essay. This essay is a paragraph or two that explores how they understand what God has done for the world through Jesus Christ (what is the "gospel") and then how that good news affects them and their relationship to God and to one another. Here are a few questions to help get the discussion going:
I'm asking that all students type their final essay into the box below and then submit it.
PARENTS, PLEASE BE A PART OF THIS PROCESS. Your help and input is vital. I know schedules are busy but please find a half hour or so to talk this over with your child. That conversation will be more important than the words they end up writing down. If you have any questions at all, just submit them to me in the form below. Thanks!
- How do you know that God loves you? hint.. the BIBLE tells us (Romans 5:8), baptism cleanses us and holy communion feeds us with that love.
- Who is Jesus and why is he important to your life? hint.. Jesus is the Word of God in flesh and blood. Jesus is our savior, redeemer, friend, and brother. He came to be light, bread, and living water for the world.
- Can we earn God's love or is it a free gift? (hint...it's a free gift)
- How does believing (faith) in God's undeserved love change you and the way you 'see' other people?
- When life is hard, how does faith in the God of the cross help keep you going?
- Why is belonging to a community of faith (the church) important to your faith life?
